Trinamool Congress's biggest rally to be held in Kolkata today
Kolkata is headed to a standstill today, with Trinamool Congress Rally, where they aim to herd 20 lakh supporters to the heart of the city, at Brigade Parade Grounds.

This will be Trinamool's biggest Brigade rally, where Mamata Banerjee will address the gathering, and will thank the supporters for the resounding victory in the panchayat and municipal polls. The rally also has a historic significance, where the chief minister will spell out the party’s vision for the next Lok Sabha polls.

Apart from Mamata's speech, the other attractions of the rally would be a dance performance by MP Satabdi Roy and MLA Debasree Roy, and a song by Nachiketa and Indranil Sen, as reported by Telegraph.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has inspected the rally grounds on Tuesday evening to check the arrangements. The security is taken care by the Kolkata police, which will deploy around 5,000 police personnel today. The rally will create a mini bandh kind of atmosphere in the city, as large parts of the city are likely to be closed today.

This will effect the people as it is middle of the working week. The traffic truma is likely to continue till the evening. But the chief minister has already issued an apology for this, stating 'We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to the people'.

The crowd for the rally have started to pour in from different states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim since Wednesday to join the Brigade Parade Ground rally.
