True features of Diwali moving far from its real essence
Diwali, a day of celebration to lighten the world. Everyone was busy with excessive marketing, alcohol, gambling, crackers; meant everyone was in mood of consumption - consuming to make one happy on Diwali. Only this festival makes us understand what human can do to make himself/herself happy. Someone may have brought a new car, someone may have spent lakhs in crackers, while others may be if he/she is drunk on alcohol.

Of course this season is a rhythmic season in our society, everyone wants to purchase their own share of happiness from the market, because today's celebration is present in the market. Happiness lies in buying different products with different discounts. But, I think happiness differs from people to people.

I also feel that celebration means offering prayers together, festival of relationship, offering love, kindness, truth and deep bonds with people and nature. What I believe about celebration may be not equivalent with the way people of today enjoy - alcohol, disco, gambling etc. But, this is not the real Diwali celebration.

But a real Diwali celebration includes a diya, which is made up with soil, water, dedication, love affection, belief and hard labour. These all substances converted into an offering, which a kumhar offer with Diya to lighten another house. It is nothing but a true celebration. Then we put oil, baati in Diya and ignite the flame and offer Kumhar and our prayers.

I may have been lucky this time around, where I saw some pure celebration this Diwali, where the eye of a child was fixed upon the flame of Diya, crackers were blasting in the background but the child was continually watching the flame, after few minutes child turned to his mother looked into her face and passed a smile, which had a sense of satisfaction and happiness written all over it.

But, true features of Diwali is moving far from its true essence.
