Trump calls North Atlantic Treaty Organization 'obsolete', Europe gets worried
With US President-elect Donald Trump calling North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) 'obsolete', most European countries have got worried and their leaders have appealed for unity and sticking to one another to keep assertive Russia and Islamic terrorism at bay.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called upon Europe to look towards the emergent scenario and work unitedly and intensely in the light of the latest remarks of Trump and the uncertain US policy. "We Europeans have our destiny in our own hands," she said in news conference.

Similar reactions have been echoed by many European Union (EU) leaders in wake of this new uncertainty and have called for self-reliance.

Currently, EU is facing many challenges due to Britain's vote to leave the EU, debt crisis and recent surge in migration arising from the battles and militancy in the Middle East. Meanwhile, Trump has accused German Chancellor Merkel of 'catastrophic mistake' in accepting migrants in her country.
