Turkish airways flight skids off taxiway, passengers and crew safe
A Boeing A340 TK 720 belonging to the Turkish airways skidded off the main taxiway at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai at around 4:15 am with 97 people on board. All passengers are reported to be safe.
A MAJOR mishap was averted in the Mumbai airport today when a Turkish Airways flight skidded off the main taxiway carrying 97 passengers on board. The flight landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai at around 4:15 am en route from Istanbul.

The Boeing A340 TK 720, which was carrying 97 passengers on board including the cabin crew, no casualties or list of injured people have been reported. As soon as the flight skidded off the main taxiway, emergency evacuation procedures were stepped up and all the passengers as well as the crew were taken to the terminal.

Post the incident, the main taxiway has been shut till 8 pm and delays in departure and arrival will be experienced ranging from 20 minutes to 40 minutes. Owing to low visibility, operations were halted at the airport from 8.40 am to 8.52 am for a brief period of time. However, the services have now resumed.

Getting into the defensive mode, the airport officials reportedly said that before the flight landed at the taxiway, a thorough check was conducted and the fault did not lie in the taxiway or the runway. This is the second incident in a week after a Gulf flight skidded off the runway at the Kochi airport earlier this week.
