TV celebs react to SC's big verdict on triple talaq
The Supreme Court by a majority verdict announced on Tuesday that the practice of triple talaq amongst Muslims was "void", "illegal" and "unconstitutional". It also ruled that triple talaq was against the tenets of Qur'an. The historic decision came as a reprieve to many Muslim women.

The decision evoked joy and a sense of respite to the entire country. TV celebs have come out in full support for this historic verdict as triple talaq violated the fundamental rights of women guaranteed by the Constitution.

Kavita Kaushik, who is best known for her comic role as Chadramukhi Chautala in TV serial FIR poured in some good words and welcomed the decision with open arms quoting, "I am very happy with decision and feel it is a right decision. I have so many Muslim friends, who have neither have four wives nor have given talaq to anyone. I think the decision was much needed."

Actor Ravi Dubey complimented the government. He was quoted in Times of India saying "I am in complete support of the judgement. It's a great move and as the Prime Minister also recently said that it provides equality to Muslim women. I am glad."

There were also some tweets made by celebrities. Big Boss 10 winner Manveer Gurjar wrote in his tweet: "Big Victory 4 Muslim Women as SC struck down #Triple Talaq. I welcomes verdict, dis will empower #Muslim women in India #right&unity2All."

Payal Rohatagi tweeted: "#TripleTalaq saga is illegal in India is a great verdict for all Muslim ladies as I feel they would not be treated like garbage now."

A breath of sigh, a feeling of respite and a stroke of achievement... A victory in real sense to live with dignity!
