Tweeple make fun of Twitter blockade
The government's unilateral action in blocking Twitter accounts without waiting for Twitter to delete the accounts has led to an outrage - with people voicing concerns over the general ban on social media.

THE UNION government has blocked a few Twitter accounts, though such users, which reportedly include some journalists as well, can access their accounts from BlackBerrys and smartphone apps. The move comes in the wake of inflammatory content posted by users on the social media, which the government found enough to incite violence.

Banning of hundreds of websites that the government claimed hosted hate speech and the content related to Twitter accounts, however, hasn't gone done well with the users who have taken umbrage at the government action and termed the action 'against the tenets of freedom of speech and expression'.

As a result, users have taken to the social media and the end product – the topics like #Emergency 2012 and #GOI Blocks have been trending on Twitter since Thursday morning, with people making all kinds of jokes about the government action.

One of the funniest posts with a hastag GOIBlocks was posted by a user with twitter handle @shadymumbai who wrote: “ Dear Govt of India ...if u block Twitter or Facebook ..u will be directly responsible for Poonam Pandey's Career getting spoilt. ” Calling herself an angry Mumbai girl, the user was referring to the recent uploading of naked videos and pictures by Pandey on Twitter.

Another user with the handle ‏@TheSainaNehwal was more sarcastic of the government action. “They can block my twitter, my FB, my Blog, my Email BUT They can NEVER EVER block my mind. #Emergency2012 #GOIBlocks #BlackDay #India #News,” she wrote on Twitter.

Making fun of the ruling leadership in the country, which has been accused of being silent on serious national issues, a user with the handle @prashantsrk wrote: “Ministers don't want to speak in Parliament, They don't want people to speak on twitter, & our PM never speaks. WTF.”

Drawing parallels with the brazen Taliban action, another user @DineshGhodke vent his frustration and summed up all the major issues India is facing. “ #GOIBlocks Devp, lokpal, spiritual education 2Indian children &now twitter. Taliban is better; it doesnt mask its intentions,” he wrote.

Couple of more users were more humorous while writing: “My nose is blocked.. I suspect the gov. .” and “ I've always wondered what exactly a Block Development Officer does. Now I know. ”

‏@Superstockist was more humourous and cheeky when he wrote: “ My neighbors doggy suffering from constipation, and Neighbor is suspecting Govt of India."
