Within hours after the shocking death of comic actor, film director and producer Jaspal Singh Bhatti, his fans are leaving messages of remembrance on Twitter - observing that such as actor and personality will be sorely missed by the nation, and all those who enjoyed humour and comedy with a purpose.

AS SOON as news broke early in the morning today that Jaspal Bhatti had died in a car accident while on his way to Jalandhar to promote his new film Power Cut, which was scheduled to release on October 26, his fans and those who had followed his rise to eminence since his Ulta Pulta days began expressing their sadness over his death. Bhatti's poker face and straight-from-the-hip acting and dialogue delivery made his brand of comedy highly effective and influential. His comic-tragic take on society brought to fore the lethargy and hypocrisy among people of authority as well those who weild power in small and large institutions. Sadly, there is no one to carry forward Bhatti's formidable legacy as a satirist par excellence.
