Two-day Teej festival concludes with royal procession in Jaipur
Two-day Teej festival in Jaipur was marked by fasting and worshiping Gaur Mata for family prosperity and happy conjugal life by women. Besides women decking themselves up with finest clothes, mehandi on hands and jewellery, men were busy having ghewar sweet and oragnising the Teej procession.

On August 6, Buddhi Teej procession was taken out supported by the royal family and the state department of tourism. A large number of Indian and foreign tourists joined the festivities and clicked photographs of the colourful procession. The residents lined up the route showering flower petals on the procession.

A decked up elephant carrying the royal flag lead the procession which started from Tripoliya Gate and ended at the Tal Katora Stadium. A lot of folk dancers and band parties were the main attraction of the procession. The dances like Kalbelia, Ger and Kachchi Ghori were enjoyed by the spectators.

Despite the efforts to maintain the traditional flair of the festival, market forces are all out to commercialise it by bringing in the new gift items for married women and sale of branded jewelry and make up items.
