Two films to wait for: Rajneeti, Raavan
The summer is going to be enjoyable for cinema as well as music lovers with two great directors, Prakash Jha and Mani Ratnam coming with Rajneeti and Raavan. The music is already doing good and is in top ten on charts.
THIS SUMMER is going to be enjoyable for cinema as well as music lovers with two great directors, Prakash Jha and Mani Ratnam  coming with Rajneeti and Raavan. The music is already doing good and is in top ten on charts.

Rajneeti is said to be related to Gandhi family and has already had it’s share of controversy over censorship as well.  The film got an A certificate from the censor board over some alleged love making scene. As a matter of fact some movies like Kurbaan and Ghajini were given U/A certificate.

The songs of Rajneeti are great and have a touch of rusticity to them. Atkan matkan dahi chataakan has been taken from the traditional child folklores of Bihar and UP. Again another song Mora piya is basically quite un-bollywood masala song but is attracting good listenership. Bheegi si Bhaagi si is good as well sung by Mohit Chauhan and Antara Mishra.

This film has a big star cast and given the previous record of Jha, there is nodoubt that it will be a great film to wait and then watch. Jha is not an entertainer but the one, who boils up your brain, he took this genre but never seems repetitive. Politics was there in Apharan and Politics was there in Gangajal and politics will be there in Rajneeti as well but nothing is same!

I hope Ranveer kapoor delivers some serious stuff after his white suit dances in cold deserts, blue Sawariya and multicoloured comedies. He looks great in promos without saying a word. Jha has worked him up nicely along with Arjun Rampal who has made a good comeback after Rock On. Other actors are seasoned and they need no mentioning.

Raavan is loosely based on Kobad Gandhy’s life which will be interesting as well. Raavan is worshipped at many places in South India. I hope the name does justice to the film and it will be interesting to see Abhishek being juxtaposed with the great demon king Raavan. Mani Ratnam has done Yuva and Guru with Abhishek and both of the films gained critical as well as commercial acclaim.

At a time when Abhishek was being written off as a non-actor, Yuva showed he can act and act brilliantly. Guru was another film when we saw his acting going to another level altogether. Aishwarya has been a good actress and her acting and dancing skills will add to the film.

Music of the film is doing good, Rahman sounds repetitive though! The same tunes, nevertheless better than others at least! Songs like Behne de, Beera and Thok di killi are good to ears. Ranjha Ranjha has a sufi touch as far as lyrics goes. This song is being liked by the youth very much. Kata kata reminds of musical bursts of Dhaka baka laka.. from Yuva.

Overall a good time for cinema lovers in offing. These two movies will appeal to almost all kinds of viewers. They are serious in nature and treat two good themes with some hint of masala as well. Have a happy time ahead!
