Two-hour-old baby's body found in a dustbin in Mumbai
In a shocking incident, the upper body of a newborn baby, not more than two hours old, was found dumped in a dustbin in Nalasopara (east) area of Mumbai. Stray dogs fighting over the plastic bag in which the body was dumped are suspected to have eaten the lower half of the body.

The sex of the baby is yet to be determined. All that remained of the baby's body were two hands and head, which have been sent for autopsy.

The body was recovered in a plastic bag near the dustbin on High Tension Road, Pragati Nagar, Nalasopara (east). The body was discovered when locals noticed stray dogs fighting over a plastic bag, which turned out to be the body of the new born.

The Tuling police suspect that the body was dumped during the day when it was raining heavily.

It remains unclear whether the baby was alive when dumped. The police have registered a case under Section 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) of the IPC against unknown persons. Maternity homes in the area are being scanned for deliveries.
