Two Indian students, Sukhjinder Singh and Amarjit Singh have been charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl on a train from Melbourne to Sydney. Incident took place at 3 am when the train was passing through NSW.

The two men tried to restrain and force the girl which woke her up. The girl was allegedly sexually assaulted before she could break free and seek assistance from the train staff, the police said in a statement. The rail staff immediately contacted the police who met the train at Goulburn station.

The police also stated that bail had been denied to the charged men who have not yet entered a plea during the brief hearing but have been charged with sexual assault. The matter has been postponed for further hearing until September 16, when the guilty are expected to apply for bail. Both men are Indians living on student visas down under.
 
The girl from Gosford on the NSW Central coast received treatment at the Goulburn hospital and has been counseled since.
 
The incident comes as a national shame and has marred an already hazy reputation of Indian citizens in eyes of the world.
