Two on hunger strike to demand death sentence for rapists

The horrifying Delhi gang rape has shook the entire nation. There is public outrage across the nation demanding speedy justice in such cases. Rajesh Gangwar from Uttar Pradesh is on a fast since the last 13 days at Jantar Mantar demanding swift justice and other changes in the system to ensure safety of women.

THE DECEMBER 16 incident woke up the whole nation and people came on streets to pour in their support for the Delhi braveheart, who ultimately succumbed to her internal injuries. She died but the protests are continuing till date demanding justice not only for her but for every rape victim.

From chanting anti-government slogans, to candle march, people protested in every manner they could to register their anger on crime against women.

To lend their support to the Delhi rape victim two men from Uttar Pradesh are observing hunger strike. Rajesh Gangwar from Breilly and Babu Singh from Farukkkhabad, who are on hunger strike are demanding that a special session of parliament should called to amend rape laws and to make provision of death penalty for rapists according to ANI.

“We want the government to call a special session of the parliament and amend laws to award death penalty to rapists. There should be speedy trial in all rape cases and justice should delivered within two and half months,” said Rajesh Gangwar.

The two are only relying on a liquid diet for over a week. So far no government representative has come to meet and interact with these two fasting persons.
