It was Manjit's visit, which helped the police to identify the suspects as he was caught on camera. On Friday, at around 12.30 am an argument broke out between him and the occupants of a Bolero car over the issue of paying toll, say sources.
Just few moments later, Pandey was shot fatally in the neck and he died on the spot. Shot from a very close range, Pandey collapsed and this was caught on CCTV. The reason, which led to this killing was simply the payment of Rs 27, which is to be payed by motorists at Kherki Daula toll plaza on Gurgaon-Manesar border.
Tiffs over payment of toll are routine as local villagers are not willing to show even the ID cards, which exempt them from paying this tax. Around 20 villages in the vicinity of the toll plaza are exempted from paying toll, but villagers are now demanding that this collection point should be shifted to Manesar as the number of residents living beyond the tall has increased.
