IT SOUNDS incredible but it is a fact that two ministers in Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s union cabinet "continue’’ to be members of J&K State Legislative Assembly!
The official website of Jammu and Kashmir Government (http://jammukashmir.nic.in) shows and prominently displays Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad representing Hazratbal and Bhaderwah Assembly segments of the border state. Unfortunately, in a world where information changes so fast, the official website of this sensitive state has not been updated since February 4, 2009 and it continues to splash outdated information to the amusement of thousands of internet surfers across the globe.
Under its subsection, "Government and Administration’’ of this website, it continues to show National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah and high profile Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad as the Members of the State Legislative Assembly under the category "Newly elected MLAs’’. The website also shows Dr Abdullah representing Sonwar constituency in addition to Hazratbal, ignoring the fact that both these Union Ministers are presently members of the Rajya Sabha. Informed sources said even the matter had been raised some months back with the much hyped CM’s online grievances cell under complaint number 9383. However, no corrective measures have so far been taken except passing the hierarchical buck onto others. Intriguingly, portfolios of only nine NC-Congress coalition ministers have been displayed under the category `` List of Council of Ministers’’, while’s there is no mention of Ministers like Abdul Ghani Malik, Ajaz Ahmad Khan, Ghulam Mohd Saroori, R S Chib, Dr Manohar Lal, Shabir Ahmad Khan, Nasir Aslam Wani, , Sakina Itto, Raman Bhalla, Aga Syed Ruhulla Mehdi, Qamar Ali Akhoon, or Javed Dar. Further, the website profiles only 14 districts of the state as if districts like Ramban, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Samba, Reasi, and Shopian are not parts of Jammu and Kashmir!
Sir, You really deserve appreciation for raising such a serious issue in this article . It is sorry state of affairs that our system of administration is so immune. Kindly take up the matter with the authorities and the action should be taken against the guilty officials .
This is how J&K Government functions? Is Omar Abdullah aware of this fact?
Good story. I have myself seen this grave mistake. Who will take care of such websites when officials are engaged in other corrupt practices.
