Two-year long 150th birth anniversary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi: Commemorative logo and web portal launched
President Ram Nath Kovind launched at Rashtrapati Bhawan, on September 18, the logo and the web portal for commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, stated an official release.

The logo, obtained through crowd sourcing, was released in the presence of Union Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma and Secretary Culture Arun Goel.

According to the release, logo branding will be done in trains, metro rail, Air India aircrafts, state roadways buses, government websites, e-mails, government stationery, calendar and diary, government advertisements & publicity material, digital signature etc.

Furthermore, the logos of three colour designs, will also be used by public sector undertakings, subordinate/attached offices, autonomous bodies etc. under Ministry/ Department of Government of India.

The salient features of the new web portal are for identifying and serving visitors from different geographic regions with personalized information; facilitating participation in celebration by submission of Karyanjalis through an easy upload process; and providing access to information related to Gandhian literature, philosophy, audios, videos, and rare photos.

"It also has a unique feature Gandhipedia which will be a repository of Gandhian knowledge and will continue to grow with time," informs the release.

According to the release, for the two year long celebrations from 2nd October, 2018 to 02nd October, 2020 across the country and the globe to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, ihe webportal is participatory in nature and all the participating organizations will be able to upload their activities regarding commemoration on the website.
