Tylenol Recall 2010, Motrin recall: Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec, Benadryl for children recalled, recall list
40 over the counter drugs have been recalled in the Tylenol Recall 2010, with brands Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl brand drops, suspensions and liquids for children called in because they don't meet quality standards.

MEDICINES INCLUDING Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl brand drops and liquids for children have been recalled, because they do not meet the quality standards. This Tylenol recall covers 40 over the counter drugs for children, primarily in the form of drops, suspensions and liquid medication.

The voluntary Tylenol Recall 2010 has been issued for having a higher concentration of their active ingrediant. According to McNeil Consumer Healthcare, the company is recalling all batches of unexpired Tylenol Infants' Drops, Children's Tylenol Suspensions, Children's Tylenol Plus Suspensions, Motrin Infants' Drops, Children's Motrin Suspensions, Children's Zyrtec Liquids in bottles and Children's Benadryl Allergy Liquids in Bottles.

These drugs are for the most part, not sold in United States, though they are made here and distributed to Canada, Dubai, Fiji, Dominican Republic, Guam, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago and Kuwait.

According to McNeil Consumer Healthcare, in a statement on Friday, this Tylenol recall "is not being undertaken on the basis of adverse medical events. However, as a precautionary measure, parents and caregivers should not administer these products to their children."

"Some products in the recall may have a higher concentration of active ingredient than specified while others may have inactive ingredients which don't meet testing requirements", McNeil Consumer Healthcare added.

A complete list of Recalled drugs, with product NDC numbers (which can be found on the bottle label below the brand name) is as follows:

crystal
Where do I find the ndc code? I have many bottles and no store will take them back without a reciept. Can any one help?
linda
How do I get compensation for the bottles I have on this list?
Suzy
I just checked this list. The Tylenol that I already had given to my 15 month old child is on this list!!!!!!!! I bought it at our grocery store (Stop N Shop) in Bayonne New Jersey. There were ABSOLUTELY NO indications that it was recalled!!!
Lynn
I live in North Carolina and have a bottle purchased at CVS that is on the recall list
Danny
We are in arizona and I just checked. We also have product on the recall list. It was purchased either at Costco or Target
RG
Every bottle of Tylenol I had was on this recall list!

I live in L.A. and just discovered that the Motrin we bought was on the recall list, so it's obviously not just being sold overseas. Also, the numbers are really hard to find. They're in tiny black type on the front of the label near the top.

I checked on the MCNeil site and it reported that my medicines were not recalled. I then looked on a different site and it reported it was! ALL OF THEM! Check it very carefully!

Okay..so what are they willing to do for children that have gotten sick from taken these meds? Are they willing to cover to ER visits? It was not until I got a call from my Sams Club that the Childrens Motrin I purchased was on Recall. One of my children has her tonsils taken out and along with pain meds I was instructed to keep her on this round the clock as well. For almost one month she had constant belly pain and diarrhea...than the phone call from Sams club came in and it made perfect sense! It was the motrin that she was taking 4 times a day for a month that caused all the diarreha! She was at the ER and had stool samples ran and ruled out all the major causes...just blew it off as a stomache flu that she could not fight or mix of antibiotics from surgery! I know now that it was the motrin...we have 6 children total and none of the other kids got sick that whole month...if it were a stomache bug or rota virus everyone would have gotten sick! I am so upset over this...the 2 companies most trusted :(
Kimee
this is ridiculous! Drug companies get away with too much. Gave Motrin to my child yesterday! just found out today. They think they can do this to childrens' medicine because who's going to notice it isn't helping or they get too much! Shame on them!!! This sickens me.
Nicole
Both of these were in my fridge... the benadryl and the tylenol. Both bought at my local Walgreens. Should I be concerned? My daughter has had a few does from each bottle.
keli
what could happen if you have gave this to your child and didn't know it was one of the recalls until now.

these drugs are for sale in the US. I bought them at my local walmart and they are on the list.

This is insane! Now what are we supposed to give to our children with high fevers and/or headaches?? What are we supposed to do with the BOTTLES that we bought??? Where do we get our money back? Where do we find trust again with your companies?
Deamon
I find it funny how everyone overreacts on such things. All it states is that "Some products in the recall may have a higher concentration of active ingredient than specified while others may have inactive ingredients which don't meet testing requirements" the only problem is if you don't watch how much you give your child you can possibly overdose and inactive ingredients are usually for taste and other non adverse affects in the medicine. This is also a Voluntary recall and is not about to cause severe medical problems to your child unless already alergic
tracy
Dear Sir/Madam, I bought Motrin at Costco and my son finished 1 bottle already. How should I do now? And what kind of medicine will I give to my son If I need it ? Thank you very much.
BERTA
THIS IS A CROCK OF @#$%!!!!!! You dont play wit nobody kids!!regardless of what we administer, these companies need to make sure every medicine that hits the market is a1 esp. when it involves our young ones!!!
EllenV
The FDA overreacts as does the media our government and most other publicly eyed groups... which is the result of undue panic, all I'm saying is stop freaking out and assuming your child's diarrhea, hives etc is because of this. Yes pharmaceutical companies should be held to high standards, but we as parents must assume responsiblity for what we administer...and getting what we pay for is our right but look around you...when does that happen? I wasn't trying to be insensitive, give them "Generic" formularies...rarely do you hear of them being recalled! And as for "Either you do not have children or you are not a caring parent" comment from mls ....how would you know who or what I am...you don't like my opinion, deal with it...FYI I have a wonderful happy healthy well taken care of family who are thankful for their educated, grounded, non overreacting mom who addresses situations calmly and rationally without panic...which is what a GOOD mom should do...I love my children and if we're being "sensitive" here and posting "emotionally" then fine...I'm a damn fine mother...probably better than you.

bought motrin on monday morning for my granddaugter and gave her some two times didnt know that there was a recall until my younger daughter told me took it back to the gas station for a refund and told the owner about it just left the same gas station and its still on the shelves who do you report this to
michelle
I went to the wal-mart on sunday to buy a bottle of motrin for my son because of high fevers. But it came up on register that not allowed to sell, call manager. I am glad they caught it before i purchased it, but why was it even on the shelves. I had no idea about the recall, i think this is the first thing on the news to inform us parents.
Barbara
I purchased and gave my granddaughter the Children's Motrin Oral Suspension on Saturday, 1 May and she developed severe diarrhea. Are they giving refunds?
LISA L.
My son has been taking both the tylenol and the motrin which are both recalled. What damage can this have on my son?? What can you safely give a 16mo old who is in pain or has a fever?? What's going on with all these recalls????? I'm afraid to put ANY med in my son's stomach now.....
radiojohn
EllenV..you are a stupid piece of sh!!. A small amount of lead can cause brain damage to infants. will you risk your kid for this smidgen of lead/arsenic.
john
Inadequate info in press releases and NDC very tiny font size on Children's Tylenol Dye Free Cherry. How do you know if batch was mfg before 2010. As for refunds, it should not matter where you bought it or if you have a receipt. The manufacturer should reimburse the store you return it to, assuming its the right batch. Your verification code process also seems flawed.
puneet
good old tried & tested drugs are all going to be banned!1
EllenV
Chicken Little's the sky is not falling! There are no adverse reactions being reported and basically the FDA is "freaking" out because they have nothing else to do...there is about a "smidgen" of something too much in the meds. This is the crap that leads to mass panic. Chill out, take it out of your cabinets, call the company and get replacements or buy generics. FYI a rash usually follows Strep when accompanied by high fever.
Ann
I called the company yesterday and they said to call them on Monday with a lot number and either send you a replacement or give you a coupon/refund.
Megan
Why isn't this checked out before being distributed!! This is ridiculous that it's even on the shelves!
Jen S.
There is a place on the home page of the official site where you can request a refund or coupon. I had seven bottles of this stuff!
Kristen
I would like to know if the company is going to be reimbursing us for what we haven't used out of the bottles of these medications...my daughter is running fevers of 103 and out of the 4 bottles of medicine I have, only one is still good and I used the last little bit of that about 2 hours ago...and these medicines are not cheap...
Curtis
My nephew has strep throat. My sister gave him Children's Motrin. He broke out with really bad hives all over his leg's and stomach.
Lorna
We bought Tylenol and Benydryl for my 8 year old grand daughter a few weeks ago. She had one does and was so ill her eyes and through closed up. We did not know why until now. The poor thing was being overdoesed.
Tim
These products are widely available and sold in the United States...where on earth did you get the info that they are not primarily sold here?
christei
