Tyranny always comes with an expiry date Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu
I am quoting from the Shia Prayer books, first in Arabic and then in English: "Assalm o alaika ayuhal mazloom wa ibnal mazloom. Laain Allaho Ummatan qatalatka wa laain Allaho ummatan zalmatka wa lainAllaho ummatan samyat bezalik farzayat bahi."

'Peace be upon you, O the martyr and the son of the martyr. Curse of Allah be on those who killed you, Curse of Allah be on those who persecuted you. Curse of Allah be on those who watched the brutality perpetrated and remained silent about it.' It is part of a tribute to Imam Hussain (AS).

Sometime back I'd written an article in another journal 'And the Holy Land of Palestine Burns.' Being a close observer of the Arab-Israeli conflict since 1967, I was harboring a gnawing presentiment, after the article was published that the situation was going to turn from bad to worse.

However, even in my wildest imagination I had never conceived a scene where I would see the Israeli citizens feasting at their rooftops with popcorns and enjoying the carpet bombing on innocent helpless Palestinians. Readers must have seen the wounded, dead new-born Palestinian kids and budding, bleeding dying boys on TV and social media.

I had never thought a well educated, well brought up Lady, a Knesset Member could call for killing all the Palestinian mothers as they are carrying the serpents in their wombs; and I couldn't believe when my Minister of External Affairs refrained to make any comments on the situation as she was failing to distinguish between an aggressor and a trampled victim in éclat of good relations with both.

It is impossible for any human being who has a heart and a mind not to feel sympathy for the hapless citizens of Gaza. National Interests and Geopolitical realities can't dictate to sacrifice the basic Human Values. A serious conflict between the two reflects the insensitivity of State which is also the fundamental unit of one mankind. These concerns have to go together not in the opposite.

We know today that India's best friend in West Asia is Israel because it supplies some war equipment that we can't make and primes the intelligence we fail to gather. We do also know that millions of Indians are working in the Arab Lands and from there they are supporting their families in a way it was impossible to match in India. We know that Foreign Exchange is no longer that critical for government de jure and Gratitude in not a trait very much in demand.

We, the Indians, have a habit of taking so many things for granted. However, how could we forget that it was the Palestinians cause that we had ceaselessly supported since 1947. India was the first country after Arab circle which had recognized PLO. We also know that RSS had always advocated for strong defence ties with Israel. We know that it is not RSS alone but the Congress had also been engaged in cultivating deep friendship with Israel.

The first sparks of love for Israel were kindled in the inner cockles of Prime Minister Narasimha Rao who had made the ground ripe for big defence deals. Most of these new deals were undertaken in the last 10 years and all were signed by the UPA. We recognize the befuddled surprises, fiend sympathies and crocodile tears.

As a proud Indian we would like to know if it really makes any sense to be more overtly pro-Israel, or at least more balanced between Israel and the Arab world?

The present NDA power, recently coming out of the dream victory of Lok Sabha election, has no time to give a thought to the feelings and sentiments of its very domestic population that wants to keep an honest balance between national interests and deep deep old relationships and kinships with their Arab brothers.

What they want is instead of keeping a stiff political upper lip except some feeble noise about the uneasiness of situation, our government should openly condemn the barbaric aggression of Israel. If a person climbs at your chest and suffocates you to death, pushing out that pugilist by any means is not tantamount to violence. Few crude rockets that did never hit any target can't be equated with the might of explosions carried by one the most powerful army supported and fed by west.

However, the silver lining of the situation appeared on 15th July when most of non-NDA opposition walked out of Parliament over the Modi government's refusal to pass a resolution to condemn Israel's attacks on Gaza. The government unraveled the RSS agenda and refused to flinch or bend. It has equal friendship showers for both the aggressor and the hapless victim. Let us not forget that Israel has been acquiring the status of a Pariah State in the galaxy of civilized nations. How long the west would carry with its injustice?

There is an Urdu couplet:

"Zulm phir zulm hai, barhta hai to mit jata hai; Khoon phir khoon hai tapke ga to jum jaiga." Tyranny can't multiply forever, it has an expiry date. But blood is blood and its drops have a tendency to clot and stay.

Israel must remember that with arrogance comes disgrace; with humility comes wisdom.
