Uber India again in controversy as its partner driver allegedly tried to kiss a woman passenger in Gurgaon
App based taxi service provider company in India, Uber is again in controversy after a 21-year-old women has alleged that her Uber cab driver tried to kiss and molest her when she was travelling from Delhi to Gurgaon.
The
incident took place on Sunday and the victim immediately registered
her complaint over phone to the Uber representatives. An FIR has also
been lodged with
Gurgaon police by the victim under IPC section 354A.
The
women claimed that when she reached her destination, she asked the
driver to give her bags. While giving the last bag the driver as per
her allegation asked for a hand shake and the women did it. It was
then when the driver tried to kiss her hand, and when she tried to
pull her hand back, he held it very tightly and forcibly tried to
kiss her.
The
woman's brother said that till now the Uber authorities have not
taken any kind of action against the accused driver.
But
the official Uber response posted by it on Facebook as a comment
against the post of the victim's brother claimed that an immediate
action had already been taken against the driver.
"Our
team immediately reached out to the rider via phone within minutes of
receiving the feedback....Uber has a zero-tolerance policy towards
inappropriate behaviour and immediate action has already been taken
with the driver partner even while the matter is being thoroughly
investigated," Uber said.
Uber and app based taxi services provided by others are already under government's scanner after a Uber driver was charged with raping a lady commuter in December last year.
Government has already told telecom service providers to block the services of these app based taxi providers. However, their
business is still running without any glitch.
