National chairman of All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations (AICSO) and president of Justice Party Mr. Udit Raj has invited the Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal to state his stand on policy of reservation in a rally to be held on 16 December 2013 in Delhi.
Udit Raj, who is acknowledged as a learned leader, has been active in the politics for the last one and a half decades. He has always been against the neo-liberal policies which are opposed to the reservation policy enshrined in the Constitution. It is surprising that Udit Raj still does not know Arvind Kejriwal’s stand on reservation.
It is a common knowledge that Arvind Kejriwal and his lieutenant Manish Sisodia are anti-reservationists, rightists and casteists - serving interests of forward castes. This is evident from their NGO’s, India Against Corruption (IAC) team that they put together and now the share-holders, views and activities of the Aam Aadmi Party.
Their involvement in the formation, funding and leadership of the organization Youth For Equality (YFE) which was formed in 2006 to oppose the government’s decision to provide 27% reservation to the students of backward classes in Central Universities, IITs, Medical Colleges and IIMs, is well known.
The Socialist Party urges Udit Raj to use this occasion to ask Kejriwal about his views on the anti-reservation fires spread after the implementation of the Mandal Commission recommendations. Udit Raj has an in-depth understanding about the doctrinal and ideological basis of corporate capitalism. Kejriwal and his party is a direct product of corporate capitalism that has no place for the principle of reservation.
Kejriwal is not only opposed to the reservation of the backwards but also for SC/STs. Udit Raj should understand that Kejriwal has the financial and political support of corporate houses and forward castes in India and abroad for this very reason. On the basis of this support, he wants to do politics of serving the interests of the forward castes by taking along the power hungry backwards and Dalits. In the words of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, this is called ‘political dacoity’.
It is possible that Kejriwal might endorse the SC/ST reservation while attending the rally. But it will only be his political gimmick, and not truth. By achieving some political success through communal politics, even Narendra Modi may declare himself to be a secular leader. Atal Behari Vajpayee and Lal Krishan Advani have also done this earlier.
Udit Raj’s invitation to Kejriwal, ignoring many other parties and leaders fighting the battle of socialism and social justice, is akin to saluting the rising sun in the political corridors. Socialist Party believes that this decision of his will weaken the position of the socialist/social justice politics which opposes neo-liberalism. The Socialist Party requests Udit Raj to withdraw his invitation to Kejriwal in the interest of the Constitution and Bahujan Samaj.
