UK heading for hung parliament

THERE IS no clear-cut mandate to any party to run the Parliament, that is what exit polls say. The conservatives are going to be the single largest party(305) but far from majority to form government. The looming uncertainty and weak parliament will definitely not already ailing U.K. Neither voter wished for that.

Exit poll survey by leading UK television network says that David Cameron led Conservative party will win 305 seats in House of Commons, 21 short of majority figure of 326.

The poll projection showed a substantial loss for Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s ruling Labor Party. In all probability, labor’s will 255 seats, its smallest number since 1987. Nick Clegg’s Liberal Democrats were seen as winning 61 seats, much less than expected. Other smaller parties got 29 seats.

If these projections are going to be true, keeping margin of error at 5%, this will lead to destabilizing period of political wrangling and uncertainty. Brown cold resign or keep a tab on to tap the small parties, so he could form the government. But mandate is totally against him so he would prefer to stay away from power.

As per projections, Conservatives will gain 95 seats and Labour’s will lose 94 seats.
The projection suggests that the Conservatives will gain 95 seats, Labor’s will lose 94 and the Liberal Democrats will lose one.

“Let’s see how it pans out, Gordon will know whether he should stay on or not,” Labor Home secretary Alan Johnson said. “I think Gordon deserves the dignity to look at these things and make up his mind.”

Theresa May, a senior Conservative party lawmaker, said the exit poll results showed Labor’s heaviest losses since 1931, and that the incumbent party lost the legitimacy to govern. “

But Labor’s business secretary Pete Mandalson said, “The rules are that if it is hung Parliament, it not the largest numbers of seats that has first go, it is the government.”

Since these projections are based on very limited survey, in this case it is just 18, 000, it would be too early to write off Labor’s.
