UN promotes dialogue across religions, cultures
Hindus applauded United Nations (UN) for observing 2010 as "International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures" for promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation for peace.
HINDUS HAVE applauded United Nations (UN) for observing 2010 as “International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures” for promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation for peace.

Acclaimed Hindu leader Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada ((USA) on Sunday (August 2), said that this dialogue brings reciprocal enrichment and helped us overcome prejudices handed over to us by previous generations. The challenge is to learn to live together in peace, mutual sincerity and trust despite seriously different traditions.

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, offered wholehearted Hindu support to UN in its worldwide efforts for promotion of interfaith dialogue and peace. He said that they appreciated that UN was taking religion seriously as the most powerful and far-reaching force in human society.

Rajan Zed pointed out that Hinduism (and Hindu leaders) should get adequate representation and respect, as it is the third largest and oldest religion in the world, in all the summits, dialogues, meetings, events, etc, held in connection with “International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures.”
