UN to mark International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples with number of events
The 2019 International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples observance will take place on Friday, 9th August from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm in the ECOSOC Chamber at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, stated a released notification of the UN on its website.

It is expected that some indigenous peoples, UN agencies, Member States, civil society and relevant stakeholders are going to attend the event.

Another event on the occasion of the observance is the VII Edition La Guarimba International Film Festival which will be broadcast at webtv.un.org.

"La Guarimba is a film festival situated in the southern Italian region of Calabria that uses culture as a vehicle to promote values of participatory democracy, integration and accessibility. Our main goal is to bring the cinema back to the people and the people back to the cinema," stated the notification.

Furthermore,  at University of Technology Sydney, INDIGI HACK  - a two-day hackathon for youth (8-18 age group)- challenging the youth to develop new technologies that aims to revitalise and retain Indigenous languages will be held. The winner hacker will go into an incubator to further develop and refine the product, adds the notification.

Many more events across the globe will held by the UN Agencies, social groups and activists.
