THE ATROCITIES on women and children is an unending process in tribal populated undivided Koraput district of Odisha State in spite of having several women and child activists in Odisha.

No not even a single women or child activist is in a position to raise their voice against these atrocities on women and children. It is a shame on the part of the staff working in an Ashram school at Bada Ambada village under Kosagumuda block of Nawarangpur district where the girls are being exploited even at an early age about 14 years.

The hostel building in the school is constructed in such a away that on one side girls are seen sleeping on the mats and the other room is specially kept for the entertainment of the staff members. This school and school building is centrally situated very near to police station. That there is a standing circular by the government of Odisha no male member is supposed to live or work in a girl’s ashram school but how the male staff members were allowed to work in the same Ashram school and who is responsible for such irregularities observed by the district authorities.

It is also true that no outsider is allowed to enter inside the ashram schools without putting the signature on the entry book available at the entrance of the gate. But the government ignored even to construct compound walls and gates to the majority of the schools. The Ashram schools in Koraput district particularly girl’s ashram schools become accessible to one and all.

Not even a single organization or woman activists raised their voice over such an heinous sexual assault on four tribal girl children reading seventh and eighth class. The incident came to the notice of the collector Nawarangpur, the doctor who was asked to examine the girls also a male member.

The doctor surprisingly even allowed the media persons for video recording of the mentally shocked victims and later electronic media used the same for broadcast. Being the lady collector, it is expected that the official should have taken action against the doctor immediately but she kept silent unfortunately.

However, the headmaster of the school, two teachers and Hostel cock’s husband have been taken to police custody and later remind under judicial custody.
