Underprivileged children need our support
Our ancestors have done too much for the country and now it is time for the youth to join hands and..

‘COMPASSION IS the key to make a beautiful tomorrow’. One gloomy day, I went to a café and was sitting near the window side, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and a book in the other, while reading my eyes glued to a young tot who was begging in the street.

I was watching his acts and he was able to convince a man sitting inside an Audi to give him few bucks. He took that and made his move to the other lane but not that every man inside his luxurious car is going to be so benign to make his day. I walked out and called this boy, bought him some cookies and asked him what he said to the other fellow that he was able to get some money. He said well that is a secret and if he will reveal it to me, I might make more money. I was really astonished on his take on my question, this boy said that, I am educated and so if he is going to sell his ideas to me then I will use it in my profession and that will fetch me money, however he will get nothing although it is his ideas that I am going to use.

I was amazed at his brilliance and asked why he didn’t go to school, he said his parents cannot afford his education so the only way out is ‘begging on the street’. This tickled a question in my mind, why we can’t start free education for such underprivileged children. Then next day I went to office, and one of my colleagues was iterating about his NGO, called ‘Karuna, the compassion’, where children from underprivileged class were supported by volunteers, who teach them free of cost and then this organization holds many events, which enlighten the kids and their parents too about the society and its norms. I was so much excited to acknowledge all these steps.

This helped me to research about this organization, where I found more than 2000 active volunteers are taking this organization nationwide, it started with a dream which Late Shri Shiv Kumar Singh and a group of youth had imagined about. Then his son, Rahul Kumar Singh, made the inception in January, 2010. Since then this organization has always tried to make the backward masses so much aware about the society. As the time passed by this NGO became much stronger and now they have more than 150 students taking free education about Computers, Science, English and moral education, delivered by the teachers, who don’t charge money for this. This is what compassion is.

When you want to make certain changes around you, it’s always that you have to put your heart out for that. This organization has so far held numerous events, be it concerts for raising funds for opening schools, blanket distribution to the backward masses, candle march to support Anna Hazare at India Gate, then opening of another branch for the little kids named as ‘little stars’, candle march to pay tributes to the victims of bomb blasts in Mumbai on July 13th, 2011,then recently held painting competition this year on Republic Day and also a campaign to spread awareness about the ‘Right To Information Act’. Apart from these, this organization looks after the health education, they held campaign for free, eye and dental check-ups and not only this, they do provide free meals to the students.

This would make you feel good, that they do work for the women empowerment. So, talking about real compassion with so many people to get associated with this noble cause has really taken my breath away. Today the reason, I am writing about Karuna is not because they need any kind of promotion, but to ask people to show such compassion around your world too. The more the merrier as they say, but the less the underprivileged, the more our society will look beautiful from inside and outside. We are known for the noble deeds that our ancestors have done for this nation, Now it’s time we youth join our hands and show the world that compassion is not about adopting kids by the rich and famous people, compassion is making these underprivileged adapt to the changes that are on their way to come, to make their life more meaningful.
