Understanding ABC of life as a pilgrimage
The metaphor 'Life as Pilgrimage' has been used by many philosophers, spiritualists, mystics and religious-minded people to understand human life and its purpose and commentaries get written on it.

Spiritual mysticism often deems the human soul as a traveler or a pilgrim on the Earth as an opportunity to its true nature. Keeping in view the birth and death phenomena, in more profound and truer mystical traditions, a human being is compared to a pilgrim, observes teosofia.com

In Theosophy, it is often said that life is a pilgrimage and the human soul is a pilgrim. Here, pilgrimage is a symbolic representations of the path of purposive soul-evolution. According to teosofia.com, there are two precepts involved in the concept of 'life as a pilgrimage. The first being that life has a sacred purpose in form of a pilgrimage. Secondly, as self-conscious human beings, we have to make the effort to realize the purpose of life ourselves.

Theosophy assumes that within each person, there is innate divinity but it is veiled by illusions created by desires and ego. According to spirithome.com, the key thing about a pilgrimage is that the pilgrim prays and meditates on the 'Word of God' the whole way and a hunger for the 'Word' grows from what the pilgrim learns.

Thus, 'life as pilgrimage' stands for human life as a sacred inner journey in search of its moral or spiritual significance by knowing one's true self. The precept behind this philosophy of life is that soul comes to the Earth for as a sacred wayfarer from God and returns to God after death.

John Stott theologizes human life as 'a serious quest for the true knowledge of God, undertaken in response to His self-revelation' and 'manifesting a rational inner coherence, issuing in ethical conduct, resonating with the contemporary world and concerned for the greater glory of God'.

Here is my ABC verse on life as a pilgrimage.

A: Attaching spiritual importance to the birth on Earth for undertaking an inward pious journey

B: Beholding yourself other-worldly and a wayfarer to this planet as a pilgrim.

C: Considering human life as a sacred journey in search of its moral or spiritual significance

D: Discovering and realising life itself as a journey of soul coming from God and returning to God

E: Evolutionary journey of soul on the earth made with the purpose of release
