ONE UNDERTRIAL prisoner was reportedly killed inside the Aska sub-jail in Ganjam district of Orissa on Tuesday (August 24) night. According to sources, one Susant Nahak lodged in the Aska sub-jail as an undertrial was attacked by members of an opposition gang.
Nahak had been brought on remand to Aska as he was currently lodged in Berhampur circle jail. On Tuesday night, some inmates believed to be close associates of the notorious gangster Bikram Malik had attacked Susant. He was admitted to a hospital in Aska and later sifted to MKCG Medical here where his condition became critical. He succumbed to his injuries in the hospital later.
Aska sub-jailer has registered a case at Aska police station and has named as many as six anti-socials and close associates of gangster Bikram. After the killing of Nahak, who was charged for murder and dacoity, security has been strengthened inside the jail as there were apprehensions of possible group clashes among the inmates.
