Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visits Kurukshetra on Gita Jayanti, calls Bhagwad Gita a spiritual scripture capable of solving world problems
The five-day International Gita Mahotsava concluded on the evening of December 10 at sacred tank of Brahmasarovar with global recitation of 18 verses of the Holy Scripture and Deepdan ceremony.

On the final day, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also joined the celebrations and stated that 'Bhagwad Gita' was helpful in understanding the 'essence of life' and when acted upon its message, it was quite capable of riding many problems including 'terrorism' which the humanity was facing currently.

He expressed his happiness that the spiritual message of Gita was given to the world on the concluding day by simultaneous chanting of the verses in various countries of the world. He said that the scripture showed the path of spirituality but not of any specific religion.

He appreciated the efforts of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his cabinet colleagues for successfully organising the grand event of its own kind.

Besides the trade fair, academic and cultural activities this time the soil from various districts was brought to get constructed the idol of Lord Krishna at Jyotisar in Kurukshetra. Also, more than 18 thousand school students mass recited the 18 shlokas from 18 chapters of Gita as a world record.
