Union Science & Technology Minister Dr Harshvardhan inaugurates Women Bio-tech Incubator
Union Minister of Science & Technology Dr Harshvardhan while inaugurating Women Bio-tech Incubator at Golden Jubilee Biotech Park for Women Society in Chennai on October 16 said that globally there had been a special focus on addressing the issues related to 'Women in Science' and framing policies which support the same, stated an official release.

He added that in India the Union government was stressing upon the need for special programmes which not only technically empower the women but also create employment opportunities. He held that the Indian women scientists and entrepreneurs definitely were the game changers.

According to Harshvardhan, the DST and DBT have special schemes to attract women scientists and to provide employment opportunities to the unemployed women scientists.

Women entrepreneurship is a very important activity that has been growing rapidly in last few years. Start up India and Stand up India schemes had offering tremendous opportunities to the women entrepreneurs, the release informed.

Here, I am reminded of a remark by Litymunshi who had said that absolute gender equality was not possible, and what was possible that we could honour the qualities in each person that would reduce the gender gap. I firmly believe that accommodation of diversity in institutions through differentiated and contextual learning techniques we can move social and gender equity.
