As per passenger who was on the United Airlines flight 897, which was traveling from Washington DC to Tokyo's Narita Airport on Saturday, the aircraft jolted as it flew over Alaska and many passengers fell from their seats, bumping into the ceiling.
THE CROSS country United Airlines flight 897, which was traveling from Washington DC to Tokyo's Narita Airport on Saturday morning ran into turbulence, injuring twenty people. The Boeing 747-400 of United Airlines was carrying 264 passengers.
According to the Airport office of the Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ministry, the aircraft was on the altitude of around 31500 feet at 10:55 AM local time when the incident. Turbulence is caused by sudden changes in air movement, that can make the plane buffet upwards and downwards. Flight 897 was able to land at the Narita Airport in Tokyo at 3:45 PM.
According to a passenger who was on the flight, the aircraft jolted as it flew over Alaska and many passengers fell from their seats, apart from bumping into the ceiling. The authorities said that the captain of the aircraft did not alert air traffic controllers at Narita airport about the accident.
According to the sources, though 20 persons were injured on the United Airlines flight, none of them had serious injuries and were rushed to a local hospital soon after landing.
