Also, after the minute's silence, balloons were released over the Manchester Arena, where 22 people were killed in the terror attack.

Due the crowds surging at public places to observe collective silence, armed police was seen patrolling ahead of a national minute's silence.

The British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, 91, visited young survivors at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. She said that it was dreadful and wicked to target young children. She thanked the paramedics and staff for working tirelessly to help the youngsters injured in the terror attack.
