UN's International Day of Co-operatives celebrated across the globe
The International Day of Co-operatives was observed across the globe on the first Saturday of July with the theme Cooperatives: The power to act for a sustainable future" to highlight the contribution of co-operatives in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

It is held that the value and strategy of cooperation widens ownership and leads to economic and social inclusion. When cooperation becomes central to any action, the inequalities of all kinds become minimal.

According to the UN, cooperative movement can ensure universal access to quality goods and services to most people since it focuses on meeting the needs of the members rather than financial returns alone.

The observance established in 1992, is meant to promote the idea of the cooperative movement as a mix of global reach and needs-based ethical business conduct. This year, the emphasis on the complementarily of the goals and objectives of the United Nations and the international cooperative movement.

Even in education, cooperative learning strategy leads to cognitive achievement equity as well as social inclusion by strengthening the sociological foundation of education and hence many educators also join in celebrating the day.
