Unseasonal rains and hail storms result in loss of life and destruction of grains, PM Modi announces relief
Unseasonal and unusual rains and hail storms on April 16 have caused havoc to the crops and grains as well as loss of life. Social media posted pictures of the damage done to the crops in northern India. Sohan Dhillon of Bhunsala wrote about the woes of farmers with pictures on Facebook.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief at the loss of lives due to unseasonal rains and storms in MP, Rajasthan, Manipur & various parts of the country, stated an official press release. "The government is doing its best to provide all possible assistance to those affected. The situation is being monitored closely," said Modi.

According to the release, the Prime Minister has approved an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to unseasonal rain and storms in Gujarat, MP, Rajasthan, Manipur & various parts of the country along with approving Rs 50,000 each for those injured.

"Anguished by the loss of lives due to unseasonal rains and storms in various parts of Gujarat. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. Authorities are monitoring the situation very closely. All possible assistance is being given to those affected", the PM said through a separate release.
