UP becoming lawless: Two CMOs shot dead in span of five months
In a shocking revelation about lawlessness in Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh, Dr B P Singh, CMO, Family Welfare, was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne assailants on Saturday when near his Gomit Vihar residence. UP is becoming increasingly lawless.
THE POLICE and administration may paint a rosy picture of the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh to please their political mentors.

Statistics might put the state of Uttar Pradesh much below than Delhi or other metros in the list of the crimes recorded in a year but in reality the crime graph is zooming and the capital city of Lucknow can't be called as a safe place to live in.

This is especially so if you are holding a high government post in any of the state departments where corruption is rampant and the nexus between the mafia and department officials can put your life in danger as it happened to two of the senior government doctors who were posted to the post of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at the Family Welfare department in Lucknow.

They were shot dead early in the morning when they were taking a stroll in front of their homes recently at Vikas Nagar and Gomti Nagar areas respectively.

Dr B P Singh, CMO, Family Welfare, was shot dead by two of the motorcycle borne assailants on Saturday when he was taking a morning walk near his home in Gomti Nagar locality along with his friend. The assailants who pumped more than six bullets in the body of Dr Singh then fled away from the crime scene.

Earlier five months ago, Dr Vinod Kumar Arya was shot dead in similar fashion when he was taking a morning walk near his home in Vikas Nagar locality in Lucknow. Dr B P Singh took the charge of the post after the murder of Dr Arya as the CMO in family welfare department, which is regarded as one of the most corrupt department in the state.

The shooters used 7.65 mm pistols in both the cases and both the murders took place in similar fashion. The murder shook the entire medial fraternity and as soon as the news of his murder spread like a wild fire, all government hospitals in the city got a deserted look as the government doctors went on strike paralyzing medical facilities which resulted in a tough time for the patients and their family members who came to get treatment.

The police swung into action and as usual they are still clueless about the murder and their department is looking for eye-witness who can help the police department in making sketches of the shooters. The DGP Karamveer Singh has also announced a reward of two lakh for providing any vital information about the assailants and has said the identity of the informer would be kept secret.

The police are also looking out for any department rivalry and have been searching his mobile records. The police have been asking all the staff members who were working closely with Dr B P Singh in order to get to the motive behind this killing.
