UP Cabinet minister Azam Khan makes insensitive remark on Bulandshahr gangrape
Senior Samajwadi Party leader and Cabinet minister in Akhilesh Yadav's UP government, Azam Khan has made an insensitive and shocking remark on Bulandshahr gang-rape. The Urban Development and Parliamentary affairs minister said in Raampur on Monday night that it could be a political controversy.

Azam Khan said, "Elections are near and a desperate opposition can stoop to any level to defame the government."

Reacting to Azam Khan's statement, the father of minor victim said, "Will Azam say the same thing about his family?"

He said that his daughter and wife were in trauma after the incident and if life gives him a chance he will shoot the accused. "If ever life gives me an opportunity to come in front of them (accused), I will shoot them dead."

While narrating the entire incident he said, "I begged them to spare my daughter and my wife and take all our belongings but they kept hitting us with iron rods while we were helplessly listening to the screams.....You cannot understand how I felt when my wife and daughter were beaten and gang-raped in front of my eyes. I would request the government and judiciary to allow our women to shoot the culprits in public."

Meanwhile, the State police has arrested three accused in the case. The have been identified as Rais Khan, Jabar and Shahbaz. They are now under judicial custody for 14 days. Gold ornaments of the victims and Rs. 5,500 cash were recovered from them.

Meanwhile, members of the National Commission for Women (NCW) have also met the victims at Bulandshahr. Lalitha Kumaramangalam, the NCW chief said, "Both the girl and her mother are severely traumatised. The NCW has offered counselling to the victims."
