UP chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta offered his unconditional apology for any disobedience or deviation from the Apex Court orders. He further undertook that he will do everything in due compliance that many be directed by the court.
UTTAR PRADESH chief secretary on Wednesday (November 4), tendered an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court for any kind of disobedience or violation of a Supreme Court order banning construction of memorial sites, a pet project of UP chief minister Mayawati.
In his submission before the Supreme Court, UP chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta said that he had the highest regard for the Apex Court and he had acted in compliance with its directions. Gupta offered his unconditional apology for any disobedience or deviation from the Apex Court orders. He further said that if there was any in deviation, it was inadvertent and undertook that he will do everything in due compliance that many be directed by the court. It must be mentioned that a two judge bench of the Supreme Court had issued a contempt notice on the UP government for continuing with construction on memorial sites despite a SC order to the opposite. This had happened despite an assurance by the state government counsel that all work will be stopped on the memorials.
