UP CM Akhilesh Yadav sacks two ministers from his cabinet over corruption charges
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday sacked two ministers from his cabinet amid charges of corruption.

State minister for mining Gayatri Prajapati and Panchayati Raj minister Rajkishore Singh who were facing allegations of corruption and land grabbing were immediately sacked by the chief minister, and the decision has been communicated to Governor Ram Naik.

Prajapati, who is considered to be close to the CM, has been facing several graft charges. He has made headlines recently, for making her daughter an alleged beneficiary of the 'Kanya Dhan Yojana' under the BPL category.

Panchayati Raj minister Raj Kishore Singh is facing allegations of land grabbing levelled against him by people from his assembly constituency Basti.

Sources from Raj Bhavan have confirmed that Governor Ram Naik has accepted Akhilesh's recommendations to sack the two ministers.

This action was taken after the Allahabad High Court's order for a CBI investigation to probe allegations of corruption in the mining department. However, the opposition has termed it a 'poll-oriented eye-wash'.

Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi said, "Illegal mining is rampant in the state and it is an open secret that the minster was promoting it. Now when the HC has taken serious view of the matter and ordered CBI probe, the CM's decision is if hardly any consequence," reported TOI.

Meanwhile, reports from the sources inside the SP office said that Social Welfare Minister Ramgovind Chowdhury will be given the charge of Panchyati Raj department while Food Processing minister Moolchandra Chauhan will take over the Mining department.
