A MINISTER in Uttar Pradesh government Nand Gopal Gupta popularly called 'Nandi' was injured on Monday, when a bomb exploded outside his residence in Allahabad. The bomb, which was planted in a motorcycle also caused serious injuries to the personal security officer of the minister as well as a local journalist.
Immediately after the blast, the injured were taken to hospital where they are being treated for injuries.
Police officials said that the conditon of Nand Gopal Gupta was out of danger, but the local journalist Vijay Pratap Singh and his security officer were critical. Police also said that blast was quite powerful and it damaged a number of vehicles and wall of building located in the congested area, where Nand Gopal Gupta stays. A case has been registered in connection with the blast, police said, adding that it was looking into the matter to ascertain whether it was a crude or sophisticated device.
