The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs have decided to convene a two-day special session of Lok Sabha on July 21. The Congress-led UPA government will thus face its first trust vote on the second day, July 22.
COME JULY 22 and the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government will face its first trust vote in Lok Sabha. Despite the Left’s withdrawal, Congress president Sonia Gandhi is confident of securing a majority. At the same time she is asking the coalition partners to look ahead.
On Friday (July 11), the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs decided on convening a two-day special session of the Lower House on July 21.
A coordination committee meeting of the UPA was held today (July 12). The meeting was attended by a majority of the UPA partners and took stock of the numbers in its favour. Addressing the meeting, the Congress president sounded confident and said, " I have no doubt that we shall prove our majority."
She welcomed the support of the Samajwadi Party while regretting the Left’s withdrawal. Pime Minister Manmohan Singh threw light on the progress of the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.
