Upgrade governance towards higher levels of proficiency and efficiency: Vice President Naidu
Speaking at the 44th IIPA's Advance Professional Programme in Public Administration, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, on April 15, said that the crux of the entire governance paradigm was implementation or how well was the delivery mechanism functioning, informed an official release.

He urged the officers to explore creative alternatives pro-actively to challenge the status quo by taking steps to strengthen the dialogue with people for active partnership in the progress of the nation.

Some of his advice to governance was somewhat as follows:

-Implementation is the crux of the entire governance paradigm which requires measures to build a culture of monitoring, evaluation and constant reform.

-Even for the best of the systems, there is always a possibility to become better.

-The technical and non-technical departments of the government are needed to be guided by the spirit of service.

-Each citizen and person in country must feel that there is a perceptible improvement in the quality of life.

-There is a need to adopt, adapt and scale up best practices to facilitate the common man.

-Officers must maintain a professional competence and become constant learners of technology, policy and the world to serve the people better.

"Civil servants should absorb new information and knowledge, adapt to a rapidly changing socio-political environment and address the key challenges in contemporary society," he said.

He added, "All the civil services officers need to work together in unison, complementing and supporting each other with their specific domain experiences and expertise so that India's growth story gets the much required momentum and direction."
