Upgraded medical technology in charitable hospitals needed
Some of the hospitals patronized by charitable institutions are doing a great job in providing medical facilities either for free of charge or charging a bare minimum.

THE CHARITY-run hospitals are rendering big service in underdeveloped and developing economies. However, the equipments used are not always upgraded in these hospitals. Some of the surgeries performed today are almost painless through laser technology. But such technology is hardly found in any of the charity- run hospitals. One reason could be lack of funds or lack of generous donors.

For example, some of the charitable hospitals still use the old technology to perform hernia or appendicitis surgeries. Under the old method, a cut is made in the stomach or abdomen area and once the surgery is over the wound is stitched. This whole process is painful, and the pain persists until the wound is healed. However, if laser technology or any newer technology is available the cutting of the skin can be avoided, which is obviously less painful and gives more satisfaction to the patient.

It is time the generous donors help these hospitals get the latest technology so that the poorest of the poor also get the same kind of medical treatment as is given in better equipped hospitals. Such a move will prove to be a solid boost for the society. Concerned agencies must keep encouraging the administrators in these hospitals to be well informed about the latest technology available and to come out with a proper wish list for helping the donor agencies to get started.
