UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (UPSC), on Saturday issued the notification for the Civil Services Examination 2010. Preliminary Examination of the Civil Services Examination will be held by the UPSC on the Sunday, 23rd May, 2010 at 45 centres across the country.
The number of vacancies issued by the UPSC to be filled on the results of the civil services examination is expected to be approximately 965. The last date for the receipt of application is February 1. Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examination, can be purchased from Post Offices throughout the country on the cash payment of Rupees Twenty.
Minimum and maximum age limits for the candidate is 21 years to 30 years as on August 1, 2010 and the the candidate must hold a degree of any recognised university. All candidates who will be declared qualified by the UPSC for taking the Civil Services (Main) Examination will be required to produce proof of passing the requisite examination with their application for the Main Examination.
General catagory candidate appearing at the Civil Services Examination shall be permitted four attempts at the examination. While Other Backward Classes shall be seven and for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates attempts restriction is not applicable.
Preliminary examination of the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) will also comprise negative marking on wrong answers marked by the candidate in the Objective Question Papers. The Main Examination is likely to be held in October/November, 2010.
