The health reasons that prompted Florida coach Urban Meyer to go for a leave of absence may have become clear with the release of the details of a 911 call his wife Shelley Meyer made on December 6, where she said her husband was having chest pains.
THE SITUATION involving Urban Meyer took a new turn today, after the 911 call made by his wife after the SEC Championship game was released on Wednesday, December 30, throwing a very different light on the debate surrounding the health reasons due to which Urban Meyer took a leave a absence.
Shelley Meyer, the wife on Urban Meyer had made a 911 call on December 6, the morning after Florida lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship. Paramedics had soon after rushed to house of the Florida Head Coach. In the call, she reportedly tells the operator her husband awoke, complained of chest pains and then fell to the floor. She said in the 911 call, "He's having chest pains. He just woke up in the middle of the night, said he's having chest pains."
The call has contradicted a statement made by the University of Florida which had stated that urban Meyer had gone to the hospital himself, suffering from dehydration. In the call, Shelley Meyer also told the operator that her husband has never had cardiac problems but does suffer from anxiety. "(Urban Meyer) just popped up and said his thigh was tingling and he acted like his chest was hurting and he got out of the bed and he's on the floor." Aboiut 20 days ago, Coach Urban Meyer had announced his resignation as the head football coach of the University of Florida. Then the next day, he retracted that statement and told reporters that he was taking a leave of absence instead, due to health reasons.
