US consulate starts functioning in Hyderabad
The long cherished dream of Andhra Pradesh people came true as the US Consulate general started functioning after Ambassdor David Mulford hoisted the American national flag over the office. In the beginning 100 visas will be given per day.
US CONSULATE general has started functioning from Friday 25, in Hyderabad, as the Ambassador to India David Mulford hoisted the American national flag over the office. The office will start issuing Visas from mid December onwards. In the beginning it will process 100 visas per day and from and increase to 300 and more from January.
With the opening of Consulate office in Hyderabad it was sign of relief for the people Andra Pradesh they don’t have to travel to Chennai for visa. The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy has said that the opening of US consulate is a momentus occasion for the people of state and also said that here after wards they need not go to Chennai for seeking visas. Some thousands of software engineers from Andhra Pradesh are working in America and even before the software culture there were a number of engineers and doctors settled there from the state, particularly people from coastal districts and Hyderabad city.
The ambassador Mulford has stated in his address that the president of America George Bush was not only a friend but a great admirer of India. He always strives hard to improve the bilateral ties between India and America. He said that Indo-US nuclear agreement was the best example. With the opening of this consulate the president has fulfilled his promise made in the month of March 2006 during his visit to the Hyderabad city.
Thousands of people hailed the opening of US consulate office and efforts made by Reddy.
