US govt needs to learn few lessons from Apple
A report in the Wall Street journal claims that the problem faced by the US government is not financial, but psychological. It states that the government lacks the will power to fight the debt-crisis.
THE US government, which is currently tackling a debt crisis, seems to be breaking down, not because it does not have resources to cope with the situation, but because it lacks the will power to do so. It seems that the government needs to learn a lesson or two from Apple Inc., the most cash-rich company in the US.
Although currently counted amongst some of the most successful multinational companies world-wide, the journey wasn’t an easy one for Apple. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak started Apple with money borrowed from an Intel executive. The company was slipping down the graph when Jobs returned to it in 1997, but that did not make him any weak. He borrowed $150 million from Bill Gates of Microsoft Corp.
; he invested in new projects, and cancelled the old sluggish ones and ultimately pulled the company out of the dump.
If Apple were to handle the US-debt crisis, it would have followed the same strategy in this case as well. The company would cut on expenses that were not worth it, spend only if required and look for new projects where investment could be made.
A report in the Wall Street journal claims that the problem faced by the US government has nothing to do with expenditure and revenue; it’s all psychological. It states that the government lacks the will power to fight the crisis. The government needs to take inspiration from Apple and other such companies that fought the odds, but made sure they were not influenced by psychology of defeat.
