DUE TO the rains pouring in the past fews days during the US Open at New York, the tournament has been a chaotic one for players as their matches have been rescheduled. The organisers have also been forced to arrange the Men’s finals of the competition on Monday. Roger Federer had spoken against the organisers saying that they are interested in hosting matches according to TV timings, as they receive in lots of revenue from the broadcasting rights too. He also complained that the organisers should rethink about their plans of playing the semi-finals and the finals without any rest day in between for the players. Other Grand slams such as the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the French Open have a rest day for the players before the big finals. The US Open organisers seem to have heard them loud and clear as the men’s final will witness a rest day on Sunday, as they would be playing their finals on Monday according to the revised schedule.

Initially, it was Nadal and Andy Murray who raised their voices against the US Open organisers, as they had to play on the hard courts at Flushing Meadows few days back. The courts were not in a perfect condition for the players to play their normal game. But, the game did not last for long as the heavens opened up soon. Federer also seemed disappointed earlier as the players do not have a major say in grand slam tournaments. 

It will be interesting to see, if there is rainfall during the weekend, what arrangement would be made to keep the players happy and satisfied? The revised schedule for the weekend will witness the Men’s and Women’s Semi-finals on Saturday. The women’s finals will be talking place on Sunday and the Men’s final on Monday.
