American People magazine's aim to rake in money by buying the rights to cover Kim Kardashian's marriage could turn sour - as according to some sources Kim's indiscretions could cause a heavy loss to the magazine as people may lose interest in her.

PEOPLE MAGAZINE of the United States is biting its nails in anticipation as they have bought the wedding and the engagement rights of Kim Kardashian for $1 million but now due to the recent cheating hoopla that the reality star was engaged in, her popularity has decreased, and the magazine is afraid that by the time of her tying the knot, most people would lose interest.

This paranoia started when the socialite’s engagement to NBA star Kris Humphries last month was covered by the magazine but that did not do so well. A million copies of the magazine were sold, which was average as a company paying that much on coverage wants to get results.

They feel that this sudden drop in the popularity of the reality celebrity might be due to the recent scandal that was dug out, where she was supposedly having an affair with NFL player Bret Lockett and being unfaithful to her fiancé. This might not have rocked the foundation of her relationship with Kris Humpries but it surely is not looking that great for People magazine.

A source also commented, saying, "Some editors think the cheating scandal and the over-the-top ring and wedding could be a turn-off.” Talking about the coverage of the engagement an insider added, “People's Kim engagement cover sold well, but did not as well as they hoped. Over a million copies were sold, which is good but not their best. And when you spend that much on a cover story, you expect it to sell.”

Kris Humpries and Kim, both believe in whirlwind romance, and the NBA player is a romantic at heart as he went down on his knees for his lady love and said the words 'Will you marry me?’ with rose petals in their California home. Who can say no to such a gesture and to a 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring. Thus, they got engaged, and very soon they will enter holy matrimony through their 1 million marriage ceremony, which would be attended by all the who’s who of the celeb world as well as socialites.
