US President favours enactment of law for Bible teachings and prayers in public schools
Even in the US, the school sponsored religious prayers can be challenged since whether recited in the classroom or at a school-sponsored event are unconstitutional. However, as per a news story in Rajasthan Patrika, in a few states of the country, the lawmakers have permitted the organisation of prayers from the Bible.

President of US has congratulated the lawmakers and encouraged them to return to the tradition of Christian prayers by brining bills in their state assemblies and pass them.

Reportedly, lawmakers in six states of the US feel that such an act would highlight the historical importance of the Bible in the country. However, there is opposition to the move of re-linking the Church and the public schools.

According to the existing laws, the school promotion or endorsement of a student's private religious activity is unconstitutional in the state run schools called public schools.

It seems to be a backdoor entry for promoting Christianity. It would be retrogatory step since earlier the US Supreme Court had even struck down practice of a moment of silence for silent prayer or meditation for advancing specific religion by the school, feel many.

Many public schools had been organising certain prayers in school assemblies by terming them non-sectarian but the federal courts in the US.
