US President Trump decides to withdraw from Paris Climate Accord, world leaders dismayed
Trump administration has decided to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord signed by 190 odd countries including the US alleging that it was poorly negotiated by Obama administration and it unduly favoured India and China, reported the media.

US president Donald Trump said that the country would re-negotiate the climate deal on terms favourable to it and to protect its citizens.

Trump hit out hard on his predecessor saying that the Paris Climate Accord was 'negotiated poorly' by Obama Administration and it was 'signed out of desperation' leading to advantages to some countries such as China and India in terms of increasing their coal production.

Former US President Barack Obama has criticised Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris climate deal tantamounting to rejecting 'future' since the agreement was entered to 'help protect for future generations the one planet we've got'.

Also, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has criticised Trump's decision calling it 'a seriously wrong decision'.

One may recall that the Accord is an agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) dealing with greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, adaptation and finance starting in the year 2020.

Furthermore, the language of the agreement was negotiated by representatives of 195 countries at the 21st Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC in Paris and adopted by consensus on 12 December 2015, of which, US was an active member.

Moreover, the Accord was opened for signature on 22 April 2016, at a ceremony in New York in US that coincided with the celebration of the Earth Day.

But now, on June 1 in 2017, President Donald Trump has announced that the United States would withdraw from the agreement which has dismayed most world leaders.
