Use of hoardings by pavement dwellers
Whenever there is a birthday celebration time of a politician or a newly elected member has to be brought or announced to the society, what procedure is commonly followed? Yes, the wishes are conveyed through a huge hoarding with the personality's photo and greetings and from those the greeting comes from.

These hoarding are hanged mostly in an open space so that they are clearly visible to all those who pass by. These hoardings are put up two days in advance so that everybody is made aware of the event and that they are present for the organized function.

Hoardings are not only put for wishing a minister but sometimes they also reflect the kind of work they have done and the area they works in and for. Besides, there are also hoardings which display various advertisements, seminars, public issues, policies etc.

When these hoardings are fresh and new, they look so beautiful to see. They are displayed for a period of a month or two. After their display agreement is over the hoardings are brought down and just dumped near a big tree or a big municipal dustbin. What happens next?

Well, the really royal and rich people of our country namely the rag pickers, pick up those hoardings and carry them to their huts. They then wrap those hoardings around their huts to replace the one that is torn or worn out. Some put it on the hut to cover the roof part. The technique of wrapping the hoarding is such that the pictorial part is facing outside so that it is visible to the on goers and they don't get surprised about it.

Here the focusing point is that the government is so generous that it provides shelter to the indeed needy. What a thought provoking sight when one looks at the minister's hoarding wrapped around a poor man's hut, doesn't that feeling of security comes to your mind? Those left out hoardings are mostly used by the pavement dwellers or those staying on the bus stops. Multiple use of a hoarding……all thanks to the government for spending so much on the poo.
