Useful tips for photographing water ripples
Ripples on shallow water surface give abstract, creative and artistic photographs. One can use a bathtub with water or drops falling on a rain puddle for ripples as a subject of photography.
WITH A few simple tips, one can do reasonably good ripple photography. We must be a bit cautious and use camera safely or use a polythene cover since cameras and water don’t mix. Water or dampness entering the camera can spoil the camera.
For photographing ripples, use off-camera flash placed at an angle to the surface of the water if you are creating ripples in the bath tub in your washroom. Use a smallish aperture, such as f/11, for a large depth of field to ensure a sharp picture.
The high speed of the flash will freeze the motion of the ripple or a high shutter speed for rain puddle will do the trick.
